Just a pipe-dream for now, but if I had time/money, this is how I would do it.
Wait for my motor/trans to blow.

    Find a rolled/wrecked f150 5.0 4x4, but it around $5000
Swap the entire running gear into my truck. Engine/Trans/Transfer Case
    - Pull Wiring and computer for swap.
    - Swap out instrument cluster/steering wheel
Pull Rear Axle, change to 4.10s and Detroit Locker.

    Sell my Motor/Trans/Rear End.
Part out the rest of the 5.0.

While the 5.0 was out, I'd add the Boss Intake, Longtubes, and Oil Catch Can, along with some Mustang Valve covers.

Keep the cost under $10k by the end of it.

Hell yea sounds like an awesome plan. The only thing I'd do different is instead of the boss intake, I'd go with the cobra jet intake and throttle body. You get about 20more hp to the wheels over the boss intake.

Do you have a dyno graph of the Cobra Jet intake? The boss moves the torque curve a bit, and don't want it too high since it's a truck and not a mustang.

I saw it on YouTube where a guy dyno'd the boss intake then installed the cj intake and showed the difference. I'll have to find it.

Yea I don't think it would be worth it if you don't need a high revving engine. Because that cj intake is good for over 7700 rpm. I want to go twin turbo or procharger for mine but I'd like to build the bottom end up first before adding any kind of power adder. Port and polish with the boss intake would be sweet. I'm sure that will cost a pretty penny though.

Did some more reading on the swap into other rigs, including a bmw. Doesn't seem too bad, especially if you have a good tuner. A port and polish might help out a little bit, but it seems to only really help with FI. I'll have to see what the difference is between the 150 and Mustang cams, but lots of the swaps are making 400+ hp at the wheels easily.

That first f-150 seems like it could be salvaged pretty easily. I'm not sure what the difference is in the cams. There's got to be a little difference though, among other things, since there's a difference in hp. I can't wait to do something to mine.
