I am seeking some input on exhaust for a V10, as the muffler on my dads 2003 F350 is rusting out. He was thinking of doing a straight pipe, however, I have heard clips of a straight pipe V10, and it just seem like a lot of noise. I am trying to convince him to put a Flowmaster on it, I think that sounds better. Is there any difference in performance between the two, or is it just sound preference?
Seems most engineers design the exhaust of an engine to have some back pressure. To each their own on the make/sound of a muffler. Google results say a 70 series is recommended for that V10. RockAuto has Walker Sound FX direct fit $55.79 before shipping. 2003 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY Muffler I had a Walker BTM (big truck muffler) on the 7.3 before going straight pipe that sounded good half as loud as the MBRP 4" straight pipe that's on it now.
Dual 3" pipes with a flow-through muffler sounds sick on the V10. Get one of the ones taht Joe recommended
I was browsing some sites for exhaust info, flowmaster seems has good sets for v10 Flowmaster Ford exhausts Wondering how's mandrel bent differs.
Ya, my dad an I were looking at exhaust systems on eBay, the Flowmaster Force 2 system is what I recommend he bought for the truck. It is a 3" single, with a 70 series muffler. He was looking at 4" systems, I told him 3" would be plenty big enough for his truck.
