I'm just tired of messing with it. To get everything done and have a bad head gasket is really a shot to the heart. I'm at the point where I just want it finished and since I've heard it run, I know it's put together correctly.
It sounded good because it was running!! Lol Decided I'll be tackling this myself. I didn't buy head gaskets that were specd for a .20 over bore so that may have had a factor in the failure. My lil brother has his grad party this weekend so I'll probably start on it next weekend. Might just go with ARP bolts instead of studs for easier installation.
Reason why I didn't use studs on mine. Dang near impossible to pull a head in the truck with them. Sound like you found your issue. New gaskets and she should be ready to rock!
Yeah not really sure how I'll be able to get the heads off besides pulling the studs out completely. I'm hoping there will be enough room with the valve covers off to yank em out but we will just have to see. Ordered some cometic 4 layer gaskets which should be here soon.
Heads are back on. Gonna have most of it sealed up today. The further into the engine you get the longer it takes to do things. Especially when there's 32 valves involved. 32 rockers, 4 cams, 8 cam towers with 6-7 bolts on each of them. Here's a few teardown pics and where it is at now.
