Well my truck has about 150k on it now and has ran great since ive had it, but now I have a head gasket leak, starter is failing (picking up a new one tomorrow), flywheel has slight dead spot due to starter, slight rod knock (due to the moron who owned it before me), and a couple engine codes I can't figure out for the life of me, I want to start looking into building up my own 4.6 to drop in when it is finished. I really would like more horsepower/torque so I am looking more and more into supercharging it, using a F150 4.6 block, cobra heads, arp studs, and if I can find them I was told to try and use "terminator" pistons and rods, my buddy said that those were the stock pistons and rods from the 02-04 cobras and can withstand the horsepower range I will be looking at. I have been doing quite a bit of research and a few people are saying to use the mustang PCM and wiring harness, any thoughts on this? Also any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks T.
I considered a 5.4, but wouldn't the mpg be worse for the 5.4 both stock and supercharged? I realize that my mpgs will be crap if I supercharge the 4.6, but I am at about 11 mpg city now so I figured it would be even worse with the 5.4. I looked into a lightning swap, but the upfront cost is a little too steep for me. If I build my own I can buy a part here and there over a period of time and throw it on the spare motor.
i'm gonna go ahead and beat bama to it. *eh ehm* COYOTE SWAP /discussion nah but sounds like a good, pricey build for sure. do the cobra 4v heads bolt right up?
If i can find a cheap enough 5.4 I will look more into it, but I have a buddy who is willing to sell a spare 4.6 block for about $50 with internals, but as far as rebuilding this one, I can spare the down time that it would take to do so.
Nope.. gotta change crank timing cover intake and alotta **** I dont remember but its easier to just buy a 4v then convert a 2v Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2!
