Trying to decide what beam patter to get? Just thought I would post up my results, the difference between the spot/flood COMBO and the DRIVING beams. Both lights are Rigid Industries SR 6" bars. They are mounted on the handle bars of two identical Polaris snowmachines. I wanted the same bar as my friend, thought he had a combo so I ordered it locally, and it turns out he has the driving beam. Big difference. First thing I noticed, the driving has 3 more lights in the same 6 inches. SR-Series 6" LED Light Bar SR-Series 6" LED Light Bar The driving beam is much better for this application. It shoots almost as far but is much wider. The combo shoots slightly further but is more concentrated, and fades out around the edges. The driving doesn't fade as bad around the edges. Pictures aren't the best, but its pretty obvious the driving beam lights up a lot more stuff. Needless to say. I'll be ditching the combo and ordering up a driving, the extra $$ is worth it. Hoping rigid will take it back, if not it will be up for sale. The combo is definitely bright (the picture really doesn't show how bright it is) but I need the width of the driving for what I'll be doing. COMBO: DRIVING:
the driving pattern is super concentrated to get that BEAM effect. thats why it appears to light up more than the combo. nice score.
Wow, looks cool. I just can't take a hit on Rigid lights at the moment. I know they're quality made in the United States as compared to the crap that I see for a fraction of the price but I wouldn't use them often enough to justify the cost. A couple other guys on a local Ford F-150 club have them and they are fantastic.
There's no way i could afford a big one for my truck but i kinda needed one for the sled and rigid was the only company who makes exactly what I needed. I ride at night a lot and need to be able to see any obstacles and halogens just don't cut it. I spend more money on my sled than my truck, it's my baby. Only had it since January and I've already dumped 3 grand into an already 12 grand sled When it comes to the truck I'll be buying an off-brand bar. Sent from my SCH-R760 using Tapatalk 2
Christ brother, I wish I had that kind of luxury. I don't just mean the gear on the sled, but just owning one. I'd like to go with the BRP Skidoo with the new 900cc motor. Their Rotax motors are also supposed to be undestructible. Regarding the Rigids, for my own use I would need two of bars, probably around 14-inches long for each side of my headache rack. That would allow me to high beam guys behind me when they piss me off.
I really shouldn't have bought it but I just couldn't help myself. I can barely afford it. not to be "that guy" but my sled is essentially my medicine. I would become too depressed without it. rear facing bar would be sick! just don't accidentally light up an undercover cop And to get even more off topic...I rode a Doo with that 900 last winter. Hated it! Haha. To each there own I guess but there was nothing good about it IMO. If you'd like my review I'll put one in the sled thread we have in the outdoor section. Hey brother, everyone needs their "medicine". For some brothers it's the casino, for some it's cigarettes, for some it's the outdoors and for the lonely ones it's their left hand. I have a Deezee headache rack and I've been looking at mounting two Rigid light bars on the sides. For it's main purpose it will help me back my truck to my trailer during the evenings. My reverse lights are bright as f**k as they're genuine 50W Cree 3156 bulbs but more light is better, especially if I can flood the area behind me to make sure I'm not running over any of my labourers. I've never actually operated a snowmobile yet so I can't comment on which models are the best. So many out there I want to try them all. I've always been a fan of BRP so that's why I thought I'd go with one for a snowmobile if I ever get a chance to own one.
