I keep getting a 33 seat belt code and I'm not sure how to go about fixing this.. from my understanding the way you read the seat belt code error you count how many times the first flash is and then there's a pause and then count how many times the second set of flashes is.. example the first set of flashes if it flashes 4× the first number would be 4 then there is a pause the second set of flashes if it flashes seven X then the second number would be 7..like AutoZone, O'Reilly's know how to go about fixing this if anyone has experienced this or knows about code 33 I could use your help any info or feedback would really be appreciated thank you..

What type of vehicle are you working on Zee ?

I'm taking a wild guess it's a Mercury Gran Marquis
and it's either the seat belt buckle driver and/or passenger spring or the entire driver's side seat belt and retract @ $750 dealer repair cost.

Of course these parts can be obtained at a parts salvage yard much cheaper especially if you pull them and do the remove and replace on the vehicle.

    Was I correct ?

I would try the reseating of the connection ONLY AFTER disconnecting the battery,
and or fuse circuit for the air bag.

Use some di-electric grease in the metal contacts of the terminals
and reseat the connection. Easy to find the wiring harness is yellow.

Are these seat belt issues life-threatening? My dealer (the one who wanted to charge $182 labor to swap out a PCV hose) told me I have some seat belt codes. But the seat belts seem to be working just fine. Occasionally the reel on the driver's side gets sticky, but it resolves itself and it's OK.

Seems very expensive labor for a PCV hose.

If the belt latches and you can tug on it firmly, as in a quick strong motion, it should hold up in a crash.

As far as the codes, depends on what specific code.
Something like sensor A B open or not detected could be as simple as reconnecting the plug.

Others I believe can detect passenger belt engagement and set off the dash, side curtain and seat belt air bag just from that sensor depending on the model of truck or vehicle the owner has and if it is equipped with those features.
