OK so my truck has been sitting forever now. It will fire right up but won't shift into gear. Fluids look fine. Thinking about dropping the drive shaft to move it out of the backyard so I can get it towed. Question is do I need to drop both shafts or just the one to the rear tires?
Think you're ok if it shifts to neutral. You'll know when you start to pull, it will either free roll or be a bear to move. If ya have to drop the shaft, be sure to mark it for reinstall.
Will do. Yeah I left it in park. Don't think I can get it shifted to neutral. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Have you tried removing the gear selector lever from the transmission and shift it by hand at the transmission? Chock them wheels first. Galaxy S4 Cetane Powered Android
It prevents the truck from being shifted out of park if the brake isn't pushed down or the key isn't switched to run, it's usually on the side of the transmission. Is the gear selector not moving at all? Like it's stuck? Or is it the transmission that's not shifting into gear when you move the gear selector? X2 what will said. There should be a way to override the neutral safety switch/ ignition cylinder to move the gear selector.
