Little more reading today. Seems as though the PCM can be shorted by an O2 sensor that shorts internally, attempting to pull B1S1 and B1S2 to see if they're good, not fun. Broke the socket I just bought. Good thing it has a warranty! Gotta stop buying cheap tools.
Making some progress! B1S1 out and it is bad, it rattles when shook. Them things are a bitch to get out. Broke a socket yesterday, returned it and got a new one today. Soaked the sensor in blaster and heated the hell out of it with a map torch. Just gotta check B1S2 which doesn't look much easier to get out than this one. Since I've got 2 brand new sensors, I might as well just replace the 3rd even if it's not bad, amazon has then for $27 compared to $50 at the auto part store.
Went and gtabbed 2 sensors from the auto store so I could get the job finished today. I'll return the amazon ones to the auto store tomorrow. Pulled the 3rd sensor today, it was still good or I should say, it didn't rattle when I shook it but since the other 2 were new, I swapped it. 3 new sensors, same code popping up. I had some hope that the bad sensor was shutting the whole system down somehow, didn't get that lucky haha. I've got one more chassis ground to clean off and reconnect before I look into a new PCM. I can't see what else would cause this problem. All my wiring looks good, everything is still wrapped in loom and taped and the sensors are all new.
Arguing with myself on whether to buy a PCM or not haha. I think I've checked everything, I just don't want to replace it and find out that's not the problem.
I'm with you on the cost of the PCM vs finding it doesn't solve your problem. Galaxy S4 Cetane Powered Android
On the bright, it says that the PCM is flashed with updated software resulting in better mileage and performance. So it wouldn't be for nothing if it doesn't fix the issue. Lol Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
Look what I found. Cardone 78-6411 Remanufactured Ford Computer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C49N2A/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_NnhExb1WPJJ1Z Advance auto parts wants $150-$200 Both the link on amazon and the listing at advance auto says "programmed at the factory"
One bad review "wouldn't even start truck, couldn't clear O2 sensor heater fault code." Galaxy S4 Cetane Powered Android
Yea I saw that. I'm wondering if maybe he had the wrong calibration code. The PCMs have specific part numbers but they also have calibration codes, there are about 5 that are listed on the parts listing at the auto store. I'm reading a few different companies who do remanufactured PCMs for the truck, they all said programmed and ready to plug in. Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
