I am looking to purchase either a 2004 or 2005 F-150. I was interested in knowing some/most of the common issues synonymous with these model years that result in expensive repairs. Thank you in advance for any information that you can offer.
Cam phasers, and sparkplugs, are the two of the most common and pricier issues. You also have the passenger exhaust manifold leak, and fuel pump module motor, but those aren't as crucial as the first two. And I believe only the 05s have the fuel pump module issue. Cam phasers and sparkplugs can cost quite a bit to replace if you aren't wrench savvy. If you're buying over 100k miles these are good things to look out for, if they've been fixed already, it's most likely a well taken care of rig. This is all assuming you're looking for a 5.4.
