Yesterday I took an 80 mile round trip. Truck ran fine. Got home and shut it off and 5 hours later came out to start it. It sounds fast and then slowed down and will not start. It sounds like it hits once in awhile but just won't go. It has an aftermarket oil filter behind the front bumper along with a different FICM and cold air intake. I only have an OBDII scanner and it shows P0671 and a PD. I am charging the batteries but even when they show charged it doesn't crank like it did.
    Thanks for your help.

What year truck and what motor?

By sounding fast, do you mean it's turning over fast?

You can try disconnecting the batteries to reset the codes, but it's probably something more serious.

P0671 is a glow plug not working. Maybe check the Glow Plug Control Module

Sorry, I am so frustrated. It is a 2006 F-250 with the 6.0L.
It sounds at it's normal fast spin and then suddenly dropped in speed. You can hear it hit once in awhile but will not start. I am going to check the FICM today as it is from FICM repair. Com. Don't know anything about them but they do have a web site. Someone has bypassed the factory ouil filter and put one behind the front bumper. The truck has Bullet Proof.com stickers on it. I know that doesn't mean much. Can't imagine that someone would go to all the trouble romoving the top of the motor just to bypass the oil filter without doing something with the HPOP. But who knows.

I agree with Roush. It sounds like a FICM connection issue. Moving the oil filter wouldn't cause it not to start.

Especially if it's a rebuilt part from an online store. (The FICM)

Here is what I have done so far.
    Replaced batteries.
    Replaced starter.
Cleaned and checked all battery connections. 48 volts at FICM with switch on. Haven't checked while cranking yet.
Changed oil and filter. Checked fuel pressure.
This thing cranks like the batteries are half dead. Got them on charge now.

Try cranking with the serpentine belt off just as a test for component bearing lockup.
Some have had the A/C bearing failure cause this slow crank.

If no luck with bearing seized, the next thing others have looked for is hydro locked condition.
Remove one glow plug and check cranking speed.

    Found the problem.
The batteries that I replaced were10 years old.
The starter was getting very hot after short cranks and it said, made in China.
Today I took the serpentine belt off and the air conditioning compressor was frozen.
Cranked it over and fired right up.
Wife is picking up the new pump on her way home tonight.
Going to get a scanner in the next few days. Anyone have any experience with that scan guage II or should I look at something else. Don't have a lot of funds now but don't want to throw money away.
Thanks for everyone's help. Your a great bunch on here.

    www.FORScan.org
Freeware does way more than any ODB II scanner ever will.

You will need a windows based laptop or at worst a pc you can get to the truck and a wired OBD II dongle that sells on Amazon for $39.99.

Stay away from the wired Chinese clones on ebay.

I bought the wireless Bluetooth OBDlink MX
For $69-79 during the holiday's sale.

Works great on my 2001 Ranger XLT, 2000 F250 and 2013 Explorer Police Interceptor Utility.

You can buzz test the injectors and power bleed the ABS with FORScan on your 6.0 too as well as look at many other things a regular scan tool can't for far less money.

Go to www.forscan.org and look around at what others are using this freeware to diagnose their fords for.

Read some of the forums and it also explains how to get the 3 month extended use license.
