700lbs lighter cause if it. Maybe a return of the Lightning one of these days.

Well I may be done with the newer F-150 then. The fully boxed frame was one of the major selling points for me.

I can see it being a concern for some. But I'd hardly ever tow anything more than a small lawnmower trailer. So being able to tow 200,000lbs up Mt. Everest isn't a big deal. :jester:

agreed but with the EPA cracking down on better gas mileage... The easiest way is to cut weight. I guess if you need a truck to be a truck and do heavy work then the super duties will be the only way to go. Or that's at least my take on the direction Ford is heading.

Yeah it's just my paranoia. It was the main thing that drew me towards buying an F-150 over the others.

That is exactly what this is about. They have to shed some weight. What better way? Lighten the frame. I'm sure they'll still be the toughest trucks in their class. F-150's have always been the toughest built. I'm guessing this lighter C style frame may also improve the overall ride of the 150 as well. Chevy has had Ford beat for years on ride comfort.

@Greg I'm sure you and tons of others were drawn to the boxed frame. Ford used it as a strong sales point from 04-current.

I thought I'd heard more of the body panels were also gonna be aluminum as well?

I really believe the new Ford's ride better then the Chevy anyways. I have one friend with a 2012 ecoboost fx4, and another with a 2012 Silverado 1500. The Ford rides much better.
