what should i use? is royal purple really the route i should go? to fill my friggin 10.25 rear i need 3.5 quarts of that ****...thats $96. can i go with a cheaper oil and just buy the friction additive for it? what is yalls opinions
I would pay for the good stuff and not worry about it. But there are others besides royal purple. Amsoil Severe Gear® 75W-140 is only $13.05 a quart with a preferred membership. I think around $15 regular price.
is royal purple honestly that good though lol i about crapped my pants when i found out i needed 4 bottles of that **** to fill my diff. back up.
I went with RP and lucas for the modifier, but any full synthetic will be good. Check out Amsoil also, maybe Valvoline
I bought 3 quarts Mobile 1 and 1 quart Lucas Synthetic and 1 8oz Friction modifier when I changed the dope in the Sterling 10.25 IIRC. Including the diff gasket is was around $79. Wish I had known about this at the fluid change. Aluminum finned diff cover OEM $50 + shipping. http://www.dragtimes.com/parts/FORD...FACTORY-ORIGINAL-AXLE-COVER_230879080291.html
