Help me out guys. I just went rounds and rounds with a service tech at Powerstop over a set of their rotors I bought. These things started shaking within a month, and at 5000 miles on the install they were full on pulsating. The fact I felt he was full of it was only half of my bad experience, he was also a jerk ha ha.

The service tech insisted my pulsating is from the build up of friction material baking on to my rotors when I'm at a stop and I need to have my rotors machined. I closely inspected the rotors and there are no signs of any sort of build up or "imprinting" as he called it. I think having to have my rotors machined all but 5000 miles after install is an issue of poor quality rotors or pads.

I'm more of a believer of the rotors overheating and warping due to how much my truck weighs. This is what I've always been taught and even what my diesel mechanic confirms. What do you guys think? Has anyone else bought Powerstop and had good or bad luck? Has anyone else had a build up of friction material causing pulsating?

The pulsating that you are feeling is from warping, to much heat build up and not getting away fast enough

See! That's exactly what I've always thought. So is this friction material build up thing bs then?

Yeah it's bs. But they will always be some build up on the rotors but not a lot to cause the friction problem you stated

Summit racing said 3 year 36k miles, the powerstop website said 3 month. They offered to warranty them but I would have to pay full price upfront and cover the shipping costs of $46.00 and they'll refund me the costs of the rotors after they receive mine. After the back and forth with their horrible service rep i opted out of it. It'll cost me $50 to have them machined and it's a lot less hassle. I felt like I was banging my head against a wall with that guy. I'm just going to cut my losses and not buy from them anymore.

Sounds like true BS to me.
If the pads/rotors were doing that baking
how could they sell such inferior parts?
    No conscience that's how.

    Seems like most part supplier
rotors/drums are coming out of China
    due to production cost savings.

Never had a warp/pulsation on mine
but I have changed front rotors after the severe
caliper sticking problem 8 years ago.

I've had them warp before, just after being well used, like 3 years used ha ha. These rotors are made in China and since I started emailing their service rep I've read a lot of bad reviews on their rotors and their service.
