I have a low speed clunk in my front end, it usually occurs while parking/turning around, or while pulling out and turning from a stop. I'm at 136k and I haven't put done ball joints but I've only had the truck since 98k so who knows but that was my first assumption so I had it jacked up, no up and down wheel play, nothing side to side. I put a digging bar on the knuckle and pry'd with my body weight and still nothing. Checked the u joints on the axles, spin freely with no slop. So I let the jack down fast while watching the ball joints and they didn't budge. The only thing out of the ordinary I can see is this joint on the control arm, there are three total and only this one is oily. But it pivots and moves freely. Any thoughts? That's my first thought, but there is no movement in any direction. Any suggestion on another way to check them? Maybe I need to ductape my camera down there, I can't recreate the "clunk" only happens while its moving. Sent from My Porcelain Throne using Tapatalk
Could be in the beginning stages of them going bad so they only do it once on awhile. I say keeo driving her and keep listening
That's about where I'm at ha ha. You're probably right, maybe it's only moving under the weight the truck. Thanks man. I need a go pro ha ha. Sent from My Porcelain Throne using Tapatalk
Sway bar! I just did the bushings a few weeks ago, looks like one of my bolts loosened up on me. It's been clunking when the truck leans. Un bolted the end links, no clunking. I tightened it back down, but I'm going to get some more grease and lube them up a lot more. And put some thread lock on the bolts. At least I know what it was! Same here.. I should have checked it first considering I only did the bushings a couple weeks ago. I was focused in on the ball joints ha ha. Sent from My Porcelain Throne using Tapatalk
