I have 1999 F-250 and 2002 f-250 . Wanted to put factory fog lights on 1999 like ones on 02. Got lights mounted in bumper ran wiring to driver side engine compartment to mate with existing plug. I had looked at wiring on 02 to compare plug connections. Found plug I thought was for fogs come to find out it's a constant 12 volts on it. Dug a little more to find 02 has three plugs in the area only two on99. Does anyone know if factory fogs were a option on 1999 figured that wiring would be the same on both looks like I will have to run wire to head light switch assembly because I have no other to feed the fogs.
Do not use headlight switch to feed fogs. Use that constant plug you found near the power junction box out side under the hood. You can use parking lights to trip the relay, or you can have them trip by secondary ignition (Yellow w/ gray stripe) which cuts off with the ignition. If you need high bem interruption for DOT compliance Use the high beam on the 85-86 w/ ground of the relay for trip during high beam use. If you need a custom wiring diagram let me know and I can get started on in to post here in this thread so others can also see it.
This is where I am getting constant power at the power distribution block under the hood on my 2000 F250. The cover release tab for the stud pushes forward toward the headlight. Hope this helps, have any questions ask away Dwight. Galaxy S4 Cetane Powered Android
Wait!!!! Your ford already had factory fog light wires built into it!! I have an 01 expedition xlt and while I was working on it shortly after I bought it I noticed a loose wire that had a connector on the end that looked like it was for a fog light, so I checked the other side and it had the same wire. I ended up mounting fog lights to the front bumper, wired them with the wires I found, and then went to the junkyard and grabbed an oem headlight switch with fog light switch, popped it into my truck and they work great! And hello my name is Mark I'm a new member from Canada. I think wiring fog lights this way is much cleaner and much easier since ford did all the wiring for us already, plus I hate adding extra wiring if I don't have to. The only other piece of advice I can give is that if you're running any bulbs that are higher than 45 watts each then running a relay with power being drawn directly from the battery might be a good idea just to be safe, plus I've read that using a relay helps to make the lights brighter, I don't know how much truth there is to that but I do it just to make sure I don't fry any wires. Personally I have ran through the oem wires: 55w halogen(x2), 100 watt(x2), and 120 watt led light bar hooked up to only 1 side and the oem wiring never gave me any problems, but I've been told that I was just lucky so I went ahead and added a relay.
