Well I picked it up today. Projects gonna be slow and time consuming. I've never built an engine before so it'll be a huge learning experience. Ill post everything and ill be sure to have lots of pics as normal!!

Starting out with windsor 5.4 block out of a wrecked expedition all stock with 127k miles. uploadfromtaptalk1376879907102.jpg

I have heads that already got a 5 angle valve job with stock cams and new valves and springs and rocker arms installed. uploadfromtaptalk1376879947677.jpg

First thing ill be doing is figuring out how much to bore it out to and getting the block a good bath and cleaned up. Then ill need to take the crank in and get it balanced and checked to see if its alright.

    Let the fun begin :D

I bought them with the cams already installed but I will be installing aftermarket cams.

Lol I'm not even thinking about cams right now. I gotta build the block first and I'm at the hard part trying to figure out my bore, pistons, rod length, compression etc all the numbers. I don't want to buy parts that won't work ya know? :jester:

Talked to the machine shop today. He said 170 to bore and clean my block. Then he's gonna do vaccuum test and check my heads for flatness and cracks etc.

Looks like ill need about 1500 bucks for a complete rotating assembly crank, pistons, rods, rings, bearings, to complete the bottom end. Then ill need cams and most of the expensive stuff will be out of the way

i would use mahle rods and pistons or you could go cheaper and find a set of rods and pistons off a GT500
