It's a toy hauler bumper pull with distribution hitches and I put rear airbags on the truck to level it out. Is the fact that the wind resistance is just making it that bad.
I had a new 5.0 v8 as well and it got the same mileage and was a gas engine. So I'm not that impressed given I was thinking diesels ran better when towing?

you would think they would..I know towing a ~25 box trailer loaded with a 01 suburban 4x2 thats loaded with people will get easily just under 10..did that 3 times from Michigan to Texas.

yea but theres no way a diesel should drop all the way to 9. especially since 4 tons really isnt that much for a diesel.

Most people say that the drop is not as drastic on a diesel. But obviously not 22 to 9 is a major drop not just 5mpg. That just shocked me that's all. Plus the tank is so small only takes about 75-80 bucks to fill and I can't make it too far. Almost need a new bigger tank.

what kind of gear ratio do you have? when it comes to towing its all about the gears....even a semi only has about 300hp...its the gears that make them so powerfull...maybe you need to look into regearing your rear end or swapping trannys

i definitely think you have a problem somewhere. i dunno what it could be because ive never been around one of the new diesels. id think 17 would be a good number towing

te difference isnt that drastic im pretty sure. ive seen ads for rigs for sale and they had 4:11s and 4:56s

dont get me wrong if his trick has 3:55s or 3:20somethings thats gonna be the problem right there lol
