2010 f150 I got led bulbs for the brake lights. I also got resistors for them to stop the hyper flashing. I've installed them (drivers side was grey wire and black with green stripe wire. Passengers side was blue with pink strip and black with green stripe.) It got rid of the hyper flashing but the tailights don't come on unless the brakes, turn signal or hazards are on. They don't light up with tailights going. Anyone know what I got going on?
It probably has something to do with the resistors. Idk how much research you did when you swapped to LED tail lights but nobody uses resistors anymore lol. A better way to swap LEDs into turn signals is to just swap them in and change out your blinker relay to an LED one. Its about 8 bucks at your local auto store. With it being a 2010 im not sure where thats located but you might do a little more diggin.
did you get the dual bulb 3156s? I made the same mistake with my first pair, you can get some that don't have the blinker function built in. Luckily, you can use them for reverse bulbs also. Where did you buy them at?
Right. Halogen bulbs have dual light thingys inside of them cant think of what they are called right now. LEDs have to be the same way or they will only work for one function.
yeah, the turn signals LEDs will light up 1/2 way with running lights, and flash the other 1/2 with the signals in my experience.
If you swap your incandescent bulbs back in and they work then you may have 3156 single purpose LED bulbs. 3157 LED bulbs are dual purpose parking light and brake/turn signal. If the swap back to stock bulbs shows same function as LED bulbs recheck wiring or contact points on the parking/running light at the bulb connector.
I just went back to stock halogens. I also think I might have blown a fuse at some point which might have caused the problem. But by the time I discovered the blown fuse I already had the leds out and didn't want to deal with it anymore
I'm close to doing the same thing. I got the cheap LEDs and schmucks and notice the passenger side is flickering pretty badly. Halogens don't look as cool, but they sure are reliable.
