If motives "master install kit" was actually a master kit it wouldnt have been as bad. It doesn't include shims so I had to have advanced order those, so that added a day on. It includes axle bearings but not the seals, so i pulled the seal to replace the bearing and you have no new seal to put in so that's another trip to auto zone. Then the pumpkin is an awkward shape so i couldn't keep it still to preload the pinion and getting the carrier in and out was a pain. And lastly getting the pumpkin back in the truck sucks cause it weighs about 80 pounds. If i had a pumpkin jig thing for it and a true master kit it wouldnt be as bad. If I didn't have an impact I would still be trying to preload the pinion. I had help getting it back in the truck but the rest really is just a one guy job. A solid axle is way easier than independent for sure

Goals for this coming year are to get a suspension lift, expedition front breaks, do a full undercoat and suspension paint, finish my tool box build, maybe go 37s, and don't blow it up.

Went out and tested the 4x4 since the front axle rebuild. All is working good. It feels like I could pull a house down in 4lo, the truck pulls very hard.

So I got the deal of a lifetime today. For some reason I woke up and checked Craigslist for wheels. I came across a set of weld Cheyenne 5s in 18x10 for $350 dollars. Jumped on them quick. For what I can tell they are discontinued but they normally go in the 1500-2000 range. They definitely need some work but they will shin up nice. Probably gonna have to start with a 800 or 1000 wet sand on all of them. [IMG][IMG] spent a few minutes polishing part of this one before I bought them and it turned out amazing for just a little bit of work [IMG][IMG]
