I have a 5.8 f250. I had to change the fuel pump in the front no biggy. As well changed the plugs and wires. Brought it to my mechanic due to I have a phantom check engine light that comes on and off randomly while driving. She don't idle rough at all. My mechanic read it and said it was the egr. So I changed it. And no help. Check engine still shows up and disappears. Also I don't know if it's just me but my truck has a slow acceleration. Well compared to videos I watchrd on YouTube. But she will go up to 90 no problems just slow? I know the transmission kicks out of first but that's about it. Any pointers? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
Maybe it's the dpfe sensor on the EGR circuit? Did the mechanic specifically say EGR valve or just a general EGR code? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Well, on my Contour, I got EGR codes and had the valve changed like you did. It didn't help one bit. What it really was, was a carbon plugged plenum (intake manifold). Removed it, cleaned it, no problems after that. Better acceleration and fuel economy too. So I'd say you have carbon buildup choking the passages.
