So I did a exhaust on my truck. I cut the second cat off and put a flowmaster super 10 the. Dumped under the bed. The smog pump air line is running where there isn't a cat anymore.

How hard would it be to remove the smog pump and also what are the gains from doing it?

Is it a heavy pump where I could lose some unneeded weight? Also- power gains?

Maybe only 1-2 hp used to drive the smog pump.
Isn't that like the old school air pumps that
injected air into the exhaust header to "finish" combustion
    per EPA mandates?

That's right but now it's just pushing air into a open pipe. So idk, I wonder if someone has converted it to an air pump to have a train horn

Ok so I've been reading, but I don't understand what the thermator coupler is. Can someone tell me what it does? Also when I remove the pump, I can remove the canister, then what else do I remove besides pump and canister? When looking at my exhaust I only see one line from the pump going into the exhaust, is that correct?
