A few specialty tools, ball joint press,
snap ring pliers, 1 inch plus large socket set,
pickle forks (ball joint seperator), air impact driver
makes life easier and a big hammer.

Safely jack lift wheel off ground, rotate and listen for
unusual grinding or rough uneven rotation of the wheel.
Check for end play top to bottom and side to side
by trying to move the wheel in those directions.

Wheel bearing should be solid with no end play.

normally the upper ball joint will come as a whole upper control arm assembly which makes it a bit easier.

just be sure to have a good sized hammer on hand to smack the UCA out of the mount. you also want to make some alignment marks on the UCA mount so you know where to position the new UCA/ball joint assembly.

even though you may make some alignment marks, its still a very good idea to get an alignment after your work is completed.
