what is this mounted on top of the 4.9

    It is indeed the idle air control valve (IAC)..

    it only acts up if you find a dip in the road which isn't hard here most roads are dirt/gravel
    you got my truck done yet chris i want it back :lol:

    oh yuck that part is expensive lol but hey its funny the motorcraft part cost the same as the MasterPro part at o'reilly auto 98 BUCKS dang it! :lol:
