Depends on the file itself. I've heard some MP3's that sounded as clear as the original CD that it was ripped from. Then I've also heard some MP3's that sounded like a cassette that's had been left outside in the rain for a month. It all depends on the quality of the MP3 really. As far as CD's go in general, I've ripped the majority of mine, and have begun to phase them out. By phasing them out I mean store them in low profile bins under our bed. If the mp3s are 320kbps then they will have great quality. 128 is kind of a joke but that's what a lot of CDs are ripped at
