Alright guys so I'm looking at new transmissions right now. One from ford is gonna run me right at 2600 up front with 600 off when core is returned. I can do 2k no problem right now but this monster transmission site seems pretty legit online, but in order to get their 3 year warranty I need to buy their torque converter too.

My question is, what stock stall? And are there any benefits of going to a different stall torque converter? I can probably reuse my current TC because I think its still good but not 100% sure.

    TransDepot.com
Rebuilt 4r70w for Ford Truck or Van : $1260 shipped with free 1400-1600 TC and 2 year unlimited mile warranty.
(Best price, but how's the quality...)

Monster Transmissions (only two that fit 4x4s)
    4r70w heavy duty : $1551.03
    4r70w super duty : $1741.15

    Monster TCs
    Regular 1700-1900 : $280
    Heavy Duty 1600-1800 : $290
    Heavy Duty 2300-2500 : $338
    Heavy Duty 3200-3500 : $435

Monster offers a 3 year warranty with purchase of trans and TC together.

So what should I do guys!? Ill be installing it myself. And I've got enough money set aside for the most expensive one but I don't want to spend more than I have to.

Here's a good explanation of how the torque converter works
    What is Torque Converter Stall

I would get the Heavy Duty trans/TC with a 2300-2500 stall, it's closet to stock. Get the Super Duty trans if you plan on towing a bunch. Plan on adding a trans cooler also if you don't already have one.

Thanks for the input. I was actually thinking about the same setup you mentioned. I don't tow a lot, just the occasional thing here and there but I don't have a boat or toys that I tow. I do offroad a lot and I'm always the guy that can pull someone out so I think that puts the most strain on the tranny.

Just found a 4r100 on craigslist with 126k miles and he's asking 350. There's another option...

What transmission do you have now? I'm not sure what all is involved in switching between those two

I have the 4R70W bolted up to a 5.4. I know the 7700 f150s had 4r100s which were the heavy duty transmissions, but I'm not sure if it'll bolt up to mine or not. I've heard mixed things... and this one is out of an expy.

no its not. you need alot more things than just the trans to get it to work.

the HD trans and 2400 stall would work well. idk how good those monster transmissions are tho.

Talked to a rep at Monster Transmission, he said that they will only warranty their SuperDuty transmission for a truck with a lift and 35s and he recommended a 1600-1800 stall TC. Quoted $2377.03 shipped to my door with a 5% rebate if I can make a video testimonial review thing lol he also suggested getting the cooling system that they offer because he said Ford's cooling system sucks but that's not included in the price, its another $200-300 depending on which one he recommends.
