Ya thats not Castrol fully synthetic.Been running that since day 4 when in got my truck(bot truck brand new,4 days later changed it out). Then you got oil and air filter.

I do my own oil change as well.I don't trust no one else doing it.Buddy of mine used to work at a speedy lube.Ya sometimes when they just don't care. They just threw in whatever they wanted, sometimes not enough, sometimes to much. Not saying all places are like. But no thanks,i will do my own and no it's done right.

    my old 6.0

my 6.0 stayed in the shop more than on the road. i replaced 2 egr coolers and when i sold the truck it was possible the 2nd one was down and in need or a 3rd. this happened all within a year. and on the 2nd egr cooler replacement the head gaskets were blown. servicing every 3 thousand miles may help but from what i've researched upgraded head bolts and an egr cooler delete kit is another good way to try and keep it running. i never got a chance to test that theory but i hope this may help someone else.

like I said, that is the basic oil special at the advance (the oil and filters involved change from month to month) the synthetic blends usually are around 20 bucks and fully synthetic is usually around 30, for 5 qrts and a filter...

Older 5.9 cummins is a good diesel (new ones not so much) but the problem lays with what's wrapped around the cummins....a Dodge

The problem with most all of today's diesels can be layed squarely on the shoulders of the government.

It's not just that part of it. It's all of the EPA bullshizza that has to be added to diesel engines. It makes them just beg for problems straight out of the box.
