Alright just as the title stats i am wanting to paint my rims black, here's the problem not sure which way to do it. First way is to dismount tires and have powder coated but truck will be down for 2-3 days or do it myself with a rattle can but not sure what kind of paint to use.
id say probably the best way to do it is to make sure you do plenty of prep (cleaning, sanding, cleaning, and so on)...good primer, and good paint....the wheels on my truck were already painted flat black when i got them...the guy said he had wheels sandblasted then painted by a shop...ive seen some done well by people themselves...maybe someone else who has done this themself can be more helpful...
Do it!!! Twin did his alum wheels just like yours and looked killer...prep is key. I recommend Rustoleum gloss black beacuse it will turn out a satin finish and look good....I have pics of some other wheels I did if you want me to post them I will....
I know what you mean , i would rather have them done right though rather than the paint look chitty and chip off eventually..... powder coating is only like $6 a square foot around here
Im rounding up the pics now...but let me tell you the ones I painted held up great.....I mudded in them and everthing.
