ok so when I was taking out my old sub sound system i saw some wires that i had a couple questions for yall. 1. the power wire that goes from the battery to the amp to power the 2 10s, what size will i need? 2. and the ground wire from the amp, how thick does that need to be? 3. the wires from the amp to subs, anything special? thickness? 4. i saw the RCA wires, do any work or is there special ones ill need? 5. and there was another wire that went from the amp to my radio...it was a really thin wire...whats its point? thats all i got for now. Ill be getting most of the wiring from walmart since i get my discount there, and its the same from any place i can order it all online.
They usually sell a kit at best buy or any car audio shop for these installs 1. 6 or 8 gauge should be fine. 2. same as power. 3. 20 or 22 gauge just normal speaker wire is fine. 4. any should be fine. I would go with some good shielded stuff though to stop engine noise and what not. 5. This is the power on wire, this is so the amp doesn't draw power until the radio is powered on. make sure to put an inline fuse between the battery and amp on the power wire as well, 60 or 80 amp fuse should be fine.
oh and the power wire, is there any difference between the 6 and 8ga besides size? like if i was powering 5 12in subs vs 1 10in sub...
