Look for a Cobra 29 LTD Classic "Made in Malaysia" stamped on the back plate.
Another way to tell is they have side mic input jack, although there are some "Made in China" 29's with a side mic jack. Look on the back plate.

They have better quality than the newer "Made in China" radios.

I heard a rumor of some audio/power mods that can be done on the Malaysia radios.:superhack:

By FCC regulations you or anyone else cannot legally modify a CB radio and 4 watts is the legal maximum power on 26.965 - 27.405 MHz
    (Channel 1-40).

Don't let someone selling a CB claim it is transmitting more than 4 watts unless you actually see it's performance on a watt meter. Never transmit (push the mic button) without an antenna or dummy load connected, this will burn out the final output transistor.

Buy a good 1/4 wave (mountains) or 5/8 wave (flatland) antenna, a cheap radio on a good antenna will transmit/receive farther than an expensive radio on a poor antenna.

If you don't want the antenna to move around then get a 3 foot fiberglass because the 4 footers move alot and i didn't like it so i got the two 3footers and those suckers barely move
