Yeah, your t-case looks pretty loose. Where was the noise coming from in your hub? Was it the hub or the bolts? You can try bolting the tire back and seeing if the noise is still there
Your carrier bearing would look like the bearing with tabs on my driveshaft. If the bolts are loose, this will happen.
No need to, I understand what you are talking about, and looked as my Dads 350 to see exactly. I do not have one. From the hub not the bolts, does it with tire on too. Dad said a little play is probably normal but who knows if he is right or not... As for the T-case, no clue where to start with that. Video of the shaking is taking forever to upload...still has almost an hour left... Ak Cowboy, your pic wasn't working at first, but now that it is. Ouch, that doesn't look healthy. Dang u-bolt nuts have been soaking in krol-oil and still won't budge
Lol yeah, that was after getting my new transmission installed. They forgot to tighten one of the bolts down and well....you see what happened. When was the last time you had your brakes done? It might be time for some new hubs and pads. Post that clip in the 97-03 section and see what those guys say. I've got all discs You may just want to get new u-bolts. They're cheap and you can get them at Bolt & Chain or 6 States Distributors I'm sure. Cuz you can always them off
I got a bigger wrench and got them tightened up. On the side that's not broken that is... Rear brakes were rebuilt a year and a half ago, as was the rear diff. Midas did the work though and well...Midas doesn't have a clue what they are doing. For that matter, I also seem to be getting a grinding from the rear end when I accelerate and turn sharp at the same time...Wouldn't be surprised if the rear diff was toast again simply because Midas is who put it back together. Discs are nice but...when you get into the mud rocks like to get wedged in there and cause you to have to take a tire off and go the rock with a screw driver before you can drive home. (In between the disc and of all things the rock guard)
Lol I know all about grinding out of the rear end. If I was still down there I'd show you what it feels like when the clutch packs in a factory LSD go out. Every stopsign I turn at makes my truck skip the rear end lol. Looking at getting that fixed before winter. you might want to pull the drums and just tighten everything back to spec, do you have a torque wrench? And I know all about mud and rocks all up on the inside of rims and discs, and frame, and inside axles... i had a fun spring down there lol
Sounds like yall have most of the basics covered. Im thinking maybe check your wheels and tires, maybe you threw a weight, that would cause some shaking that would minimize at higher speeds. mis balanced driveline maybe too? these are just simple suggestions that probably arent the issue, but I often find its the simple things that are busted.
My truck shakes at 25-30mph but then the rear tires have uneven tread ( Out side lugs are short and tall in a pattern) they were like that when I put em on and when they wear I gotta get em balanced again
After getting the passenger side u-bolts tightened up real nice the shaking is a lot better. Once I get the drivers side block repaired and bolts tightened down it should be good to go. Thanks for all the help guys. Will, did you move? Where are you at now?
