Voltage regulator is inside the alternator, therefor the alternator is bad....

    Duh Bats....

My brother had a problem one time with the alternator not working so he tried like 2-3 different ones and they weren't working. Took it to the dealer and they looked for a while and couldn't figure out the problem. Well finally they figured out it was a cracked fuse. It had a hairline crack in it. Not saying this is your problem, but a possibility?

My dad said it might be a battery.

could be the battery not holding a charge and it could be the alternator. there is a test you can perfrom but since you had it towed to your friends shop he will probably do the test for you.

That is my thought. It is in the under the hood panel. I replaced 3 alts before I heard there was a fuse for the damn thing!

It was the batt and alt. I get it back today or tomorrow. It depends on when he has time to fix it.
