ford never used any dana IFS stuff other than the ranger/explorer. The F-150s have a 8.8 front, and anything bigger has a solid axle. Excursions/F-250s had a dana 50 solid axle from 99-02, then 03 up the F-250, Excursion and F-350 all had Dana 60's. Without doing an SAS, the 8.8 is your only option, as all the others are solid axles.

Why when i google "dana 50 IFS" i get excursions coming back, as well as some F150's from 80-88 model year? can you please explain if this is true as well?

I don't know why you get excursion, because they all are based off the f-250. The 80-97 F-250s and the 80-85 F-350 have a Dana 50 Twin Traction Beam, which is technically an independent front suspension, but not IFS as most understand it. The reason you find the F-150 is because the 80-96 F-150s and Broncos had a Dana 44 Twin Traction Beam Setup

This is the TTB setup, from Pirate

This is the best pic I could find of an excursion front end. Not the conventional solid axle steering knuckle and you can see most of the axle under the front bumper

Just SAS it and be done with it. You may not wheel it much, but it would be much simpler then trying to make an IFS work with the truck.

Vano, I was watching xtreme 4x4 yesterday and they did a Full SAS swap with a Dana 60 out of a late 80's model F350 It had the 4.10 gears in it though. They didn't have to cut the axle down, just get rid of the IFS brackets and such.

I think your only hangup is your 4.30 gears

ya that was a good episode. if that 60 could go under a full size blazer (which is now a hoe) i dont think a 1/2 ton should have a problem. go for it! if you get one with disk brakes thatd be even better...but whats its bolt pattern? thatd be a problem cuz ur bolt patterns would be off front to rear...

    i am running 1.5" billet spacers, 6x135 to 6x135, currently. If i end up going w/ a 8lug dana 60, i'll get the 8xWhatever to 6x135 spacer and i'm done and done.

the only thing then would be to remove my ifs brackets/UCA and determine the proper angles for the leaf springs, correct?
