I don't think they make them anymore cuz of the mercury content. But my grandfather said he has some if I wanted to put it on. Does it work pretty well in your Camaro?

It worked great. I sold it 25 years ago though. :-(

I was going to mount a hood light last weekend but ran out of time... now it's too cold! I have an old light socket and mounting bracket I picked up years ago, (I don't even remember from what), that I plan to mount to the inside lip of the hood - right behind the latch where there's some room for a light - much the same way backwoodscountryman did. I will post some pics when I have completed this.:worship:

The best hood lights came on '88-'98 Chevy pickups.

I installed one on my '96 Blazer using the original harness and Im thinking of somehow hooking one up to my F150.

Its a retractable lead light with 19' of cord.

    It's finally done!

I finally finished my hoodlight. I attached a socket that I've had forever to the center/front of the hood where the hood rises above the air cleaner baffles. When the hood is open, it moves the light directly above the engine providing plenty of light to see everything fairly well even in pitch darkness.

The following pictures show my hood light illumination with no other light provided:

I had to drill through two walls to provide a path for the wiring where I mounted the socket. The inner wall is an inner frame for the hood. Then I used a fish tape to pull the wiring through the hood to the passanger side hood support. I used rubber grommets everywhere the wiring passed through a drilled hole (including underneath the socket).

I mounted a toggle switch in the passenger's inner fender wall in an existing hole between the battery and the firewall. I connected the ground wire to an existing ground screw near the switch. Then, I purchased a fuse holder and a 15 amp fuse which I spliced in next to the battery's positive connection.

I already had everything I needed except for the fuse and fuse holder. Very cheap and this way I can shut the light off if I don't need it and the hood is going to be open for a long period of time.:happy107:
