I have the 5.4 in my truck but was thinking about how much i can do to the engine for power and figured that the 4.6 might be the better choice to build up. Reason being is that mustangs run the 4.6 and the aftermarket exploded for them, not the 5.4. Would i be crazy if i bought a 4.6 out of a mustang and planned to build it up and put it in my truck?
If you find a 4.6 from a mustang with the complete wire harness and computer it might be worth it. but the truck 4.6s are just different enough to make it a pain. Get a Supercharger for the 5.4, port and polish the heads, custom tune, longtube headers, and E-fans. That'll do you good for awhile.
If you get a 4.6 you really want a 4v one that came in the marauder and the cobras. Great power n/a and awesome supercharged.
build your stock block, or get a Lightning block and get a Kenne bell or whipple with a built block and tranny and ull be good.
Ill see what happens. One of the other main reasons i was thinking about the mustang motor was that there are alot of used parts around me that are fairly well priced.
