as some of you guys know i just did a complete brake overhaul. just last week i replaced a brand new caliper because it had already seized up. now this brand new one is seized up again. i can hear it rubbing just like before when i originally changed the old caliper. im just wondering if maybe theres some i ddi wrong since this is the second brand new caliper that has seized up on me or if it really could be 2 defective parts. i bled the whole system really good, everything is installed correctly atleast as far as i know. anyone have any ideas? i have my reciept and the part has a lifetime warrenty if the part is defective so i will have no problem returning it for a new one but im just wondering if there is somthing else i can do. thanks for the info guys.
Theres always the chance with reman parts that they'll be defective like that. I've had it happen several time with reman master cylinders. This time before you replace it open the bleeder on the seized caliper and see if it releases. If it does it's not the caliper. Also you should do the other side caliper also if you haven't yet.
****ing hope not, brand new $260 rotors lol not even 1k miles on them yet. ill try that, ive already replaced all calipers. the other 3 are fine. its just this one, maybe i got 2 defective ones. guess ill run uip to advance autos. i opened the bleeder the other night and not much fluid came out even after i took the cap off the brake fluid reservoir. atleast not as much as the others. i was trying to let gravity bleed it for me lol. forgot to mention that when i was trying to paint the caliper i was going to remove it from the rotor to tape everything off but it was so stuck i couldnt get it off.
nothing is wrong with the caliper (i hope) just met a guy at advance that overheard me talking. he interupted us and told me it was the outer brake line that goes to the caliper itself. i guess teh inside of thhe lines break apart over time and dont allow the brake fluid to flow back to the master cylinder therefor locking the caliper up. this guys was driving a nice white svt focus with a saleen body kit. also told me hes got a lightening and various mustangs. asked him where he worked, told me he worked for FORD and handed me a business card. sounds like this guy knows his ****.l
sorry bat, havent taken a picture yet but i have some crappy news. the brake line is a dealer only part. i went and bought one from autozone and its for a regular f150 not a 7700. i looked at every auto store and no one could find it...not sure if they knew what i was even talking about. i called my local ford dealer and they pulled the part up, turns out that the fricken brake hose is $75 good thing is the guy i met at advance autos the other day has a commmercial account with ford for his perfomance business he owns. hes getting me the hose for $57.
Ahh those blasted rubber hoses. went thru it twice. one should come undone at the caliper, other up on the frame where it goes to the metal line
thats what i thought but everyone is telling me that the hose i need goes from the caliper, up and across the axle, over the differential and to the center hose. thats why is so difficult to find the damn thing. i might have it tomorrow.
