    I have a V10

so everytime i go to fill up my truck takes 23-24 gallons i have a 29 ga tank. and when i fill up the needle is either on the E line or below it.

right now my needle is right on or slightly below and i have only gone 180 miles. i get anywhere from 9-10MPG's.so with saying that i should be getting like 260-270 i think per tank and im usually filling up 200-220. and my needle also moves around a bit while driving.

so could there be something wrong with the needle itself or the float?

I know my truck goes past the F. It's just far enough past to where u can see between the F and the needle. It may be the sending unit. Id pull the cover from the cluster and move the needle..

i have the same problem right now. THe ford mechanics told me my fuel sending unit in the tank is screwed...it costs 1000 dollars to replace it including labor...i decided to leave it be for now and just watch the trip counter

Just drop the tank or pull the bed off and it's just a matter of unbolting the old unit and re-installing the new one re-installing and plugging it all back up. Save yourself the $800 dude.
