Chunking in rear end...

    This has been on and off now for the past couple months....i can be coasting around 30mph and then go to give it some gas and when it downshifts i feel this disgusting chunking sound from the rear end...it only does it some times and wont do it ive i giver hell from a stop...just when im coasting and get back on the throttle (not hard at all)

    i was thinking ujoints but they are good...dont know anything about rear ends...truck is 5.4 4x4 FX4 with 58k on the clock...its def not the trans bc its solid...im feeling it in rear of truck

    its in the rear differential...do you have a shuddering feeling when making turns and pressing on the gas? like one of the rear tires is having trouble catching?

    Hey I have that problem! When I turn and give it some gas I get a heavy vibration in the rear end

    yeah, its your clutch packs going out, my truck was like that when i bought it, luckily I got the dealer to fix it as part of the deal. it would have been around 700-800 to fix iirc. ill look for the invoice in a little bit.

    clutch packs would definetly be a good guess

    Its definitely your clutch packs in the rear diff. You should still be covered under the 60K mi powertrain warranty. I'd go get it checked out right now.
