If I made a guard for the main pipe on the rock sliders almost like old corvette side pipes that'd work. Because the steps Welded off it would get warm but not burning hot

the 2 problems i see are running the pipe and heat.
    1) how do you get the pipe through/around the frame?
    2) heat on the sliders.
    ways to solve
    A) sliders most of the time you shouldn't even be able to step on.
    B) make a little rise out of agle iron that you can step on instead of the main slide bar.

I saw an old chevy that had done that. He had true duals and just put a y-pipe going to his steps. most of the exhaust went out the main pipe, but enough went into the step to thaw it without getting too hot.

Not sure what he did in the summer though....

I would just make some rock sliders and use a piece of grating for a step, that would allow all the snow to fall though. Like a snowmachine running board

You could cut a whole in the frame.

but then you loose some streanth that the frame has by creating a hole.

The only way I could do that is if I boxed that part of the frame an plasma cut a hole through it. I don't think it's worth it for exhaust
