What do I need besides axle, cv shafts, and knuckles for the front end? i'm not getting the trans/t-case as i'd like to find a shop to swap my good trans for a 4wd trans + tcase and have them install w/ warranty. so i'd like to make my truck 4wd w/out 4w capabilities yet. make sense? so am I missing anything besides the axle, cv's and knuckles? remember, i am doing this to get the truck to proper 4wd height (i'm needing new struts so figured i'd swap the front end out to 4wd and get 4wd struts and save some cash). Thanks!
you'll need two drive shafts. t case to rear axle and t case to front diff. some way to mount the t case. the 4wd electrical and vaccuum solenoids
why would i need the driveshafts if i'm NOT hooking up a transfercase? I ONLY want to add whats needed upfront, for the axle, so that my front end will be a 4wd front end, w/OUT a transfercase & front driveshaft. Read much? i'm not hookin up the vacs, and i'm not making the 4wd working. all i want to do is install the front end so that i have 4wd knuckles, 4wd rotors, and therefore can order 4wd struts since that is what i am needing replaced. clear as mud this time??
blinker fluid I think you need a different wheel hub as well. Rims that are hub-centric. I've driven too many 4x4 for too long I don't know what 2wd looks like anymore lol
i would need a front diff if my 2wd doesnt have one already and i figured you just had woke up and saw the post... had to give ya a hard time. hows the weldin goin? yea, had blinker fluid topped off yesterday so we're good there. luckily my rims are hub-centric so no added cost. and the hub, thats what i was missing. So update of things needed: Front Diff/Axle Housing, CV shafts, 4wd knuckles and 4wd hubs. Anything else needed?
haha yeah and its going pretty good so far. first semester was easy. and if i knew what everything was then i'd crawl under my truck and make a list of everything you need up front lol
hell if you want, when the ground dries out. I'll crawl up under mine and shoot all kinds of pictures for ya.
