This is a common debate over on the PSD forums. computer based gauges, vs hardwired gauges ha ha. Ive read what you just said, and ive read the exact opposite ha ha.

either way youre right when you say these things are money pits.. I was just looking at an upgraded turbo like a garrett 38r and its like the cost of a small car ha ha.

Shyeah I know. I'm still pushing 25 lbs though ha ha. I'd like a Garrett power max gtp 38r ball bearing turbo, but that's 1500 bucks I don't have ha ha.

So to do the new head studs and delete on the 6.0 how hard is that??? I think I'm going to be taking a deisel tech program this fall where I'd be able to work on it there.

I have a 7.3 so I've never looked into it, maybe Jake has a better idea.

it can be done by someone with general mechanical knowledge and skill. the thing is the heads are heavy fuggars and to do them with the cab on is rough on one person but isnt out of the question. it is much easier to pull the cab and do it that way if you have a lift and thats part of the labor charges shops go with.

if you get a stock 03-04.5 truck youd need to do: oil cooler, egr delete, HG, Check/machine the heads as needed, updated oil drain, updated fuel pressure spring, and coolant filter.

04.5-07 all the above but add a new STC fitting also since that was updated.

so its not so much the difficulty of the work but the fact that these heads arent light and its tight to do them cab on. certainly doable. ford master tech can do them cab on in about 8-10 hrs of work
