Ok so i have somewhat been putting off getting an exhaust and now that my tax check is coming its time to take the plunge. For the most part i know nothing of exhaust and have several questions. I love the Roush Off Road Dual Side Exit - 549.99 Thats obviously a nice chunk of change, that i don't mind spending, but if i don't have to spend it to get something similar it would be worth looking into other options. I have heard the Borla XR-1 Racing muffler and i actually like the way this sounds as well. What would be my options to get this as a dual side exit. 1 muffler or 2 ?,X pipe no X pipe?, or anything else that i might be missing. Then comes the other problem I'm facing is, what size pipe would i use? The luxury of the Roush system is i could install it myself (I'm pretty tech savvy and don't mind getting my hands dirty). If i go with the Borla i would possibly have to go and get it installed somewhere else (i think). Excuse my newbness, exhaust really isn't my thing and i think this is why i have been putting off buying anything for almost a year ! Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance
We have an exhaust thread...but nobody posts in it http://www.fordfullsize.com/forum/f76/official-exhaust-thread-6227/ Where do you want the tips to exit at? Do you want loud or just a good sound? Have you gotten estimates from local shops? $500 is a reasonable price to get a dual exhaust installed with muffler....
well the roush is plug and play but the borla mufflers + install would probably be the same amount as the roush unless you buy some bends and hangers. you can run one borla off your stock Y pipe and choose how you want it to exit. if you wana run two then you'd have to true dual it, add an X pipe(optional) and all that piping
i forgot to search. Will i would want them to exit the same way the Rosh does, front of the rear tire with the 2 tips. I want loud, but i don't want it to sound like crap either. So far the Borla and the Roush are the ones that i really like. I have called local shops and i think I'm going to have someone with a penis call these same places for me. I have been told that it would cost upwards of 1000 to get it done, either Miami is over priced or they think I'm a stupid girl with daddys money on the other end of the phone line.
Yeah that's it because in a mechanics point of view working in a mom and pop shop. Woman only drive cars and they don't know anything about it. Lol
Yeah, get a dude to call, and one who knows what he's talking about lol. Check to see what that $1000 includes. Is that everything, including the muffler and tips? Or is it just the work and you provide those? You can either run an X-pipe to 2 mufflers, or a dual in/dual out muffler and that'll be loud. But also expensive, cuz of the extra pipe, the X-pipe, possibly a second muffler, and work involved Or you can just toss your stock muffler. Have them weld in a single 2.5" In/Dual 2/5" out muffler and some tips. This will be cheaper and probably quieter.
The prices I got were for 1 muffler with the exit I wanted which included labor and necessary piping. I thought that was insane. I'm going to have someone call for me and see what estimate they get to compare. I have a feeling the Roush off road is going to be the best option in my case. At the moment it's cheaper and I can do it myself --- - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yeah i'd say get the roush. sounds like the local shops are charging out the ass. i've done multiple exhaust systems and its surely not $1000 of work.
ive tons tons of mufflers on my truck and buddies trucks and never had to use a shop but i have materials and the skils to do it. but over 2 or 300 bucks id say f it
im glad i asked, i thought the prices were outrageous to begin with but i just had to make sure before i went ahead and bought anything. Looks like ill just be getting the Roush like i initially planned and will be installing it myself yay for income tax checks around my birthday !! you guys have been amazingly helpful as always
