That sucks Tyler...but you should be able to get someone to replace just the bedside, you shouldn't need a whole new bed

Thats great news, considering i just got a quote for a bit over 2 grand. The body shop said the panel was not only discontinued but that if they could find one it would be $830. Maybe I can just bolt a new bedside on myself and then have it painted, depending how difficult the install is.

True, although there's not really any rust on the truck anyway. Thank god for no salt in AK Another benefit to the fiberglass is it doesnt dent from small impacts, like the pissed off guy kicking my truck, or the big rock i dropped against the side.

Yea I know, just replacing the one side. Although, I could use a new tailgate...but that will have to wait.


I'm gonna try one other body shop and see if they say anything different. The one I just went to, the genius mechanic looked at my truck and then asked me if it was a Lightning model

Big'un, do you know the difference between the $400 flareside panel on LMC and the $500 one?

Theres an "A" after the $500 one and a "B" after the $400 one.

Edit: Figured it out. With or without wheel opening molding. And I have the molding, so looks like I need the $500 panel.

I can't seem to find the flareside bumper pad anywhere on their website either...just the one for the standard bed.

 

Damn that sucks, just rip the bed off and throw a flatbed on there

 

How bad is it? They can't patch it or anything?

Theres some pretty serious patchwork that would need to be done. The hole bedside is tweaked plus multiple cracks and tears. I didn't even bother to count because theres so many little ones. The second shop I went to quoted me $2 grand to replace, or a minimum of 1200 to patch it up, but could go up from there. I found a place with a used bedside that I'm gonna call about tomorrow, but they still want 425 for it. The shop also quoted me 330 if I put the bedside on and they just paint it, but I talked to my dad and he knows someone who will probably paint it for me.

Found a used panel in Anchorage, pre-paid $425 for it, and my dad will pick it up when he's up there in a couple weeks. Best of all, it's already black!
