I think had Ford pursued the Ranger harder it would have competed nice against the Taco. I mean seriously, the last major change for the Ranger was in 98. In my opinion the 98-11 Rangers were the least appealing Rangers built. I loved the 93-97 Rangers personally. If Ford wanted to compete against Toyota I think it could have. They knew they were killing the American Ranger for at least the past 6 years. I think they just ran with what they had and settled for 2nd place in a segment of the truck market that's sort of fading away itself.

not only that, but the ranger wasn't much cheaper than a base model F-150. If they kept it up to date. And had a few of the options like that taco had then it would be a closer race.

Yeah the price of the last Rangers always blew my mind. I was surprised to see anyone buy them. That's why it's not bad seeing them finish 2nd behind the Tacos.

The 93-97 Rangers were priced and look the best in my book. :waytogo:

    :peace: :waytogo: Ford

Had a guy at the Super Bowl tell me he likes Chebbys cuz they're "The longest lasting, most dependable trucks on the road..." after that stupid apocalypse commercial.
I told him thats nice, but Ford has been the best-selling truck for the past 30+years... :birgits_tiredcoffee

Correct me if Im wrong....Chevy=GMC.....add up the Chevy and GMC numbers in the 1/2 ton market and its way more than the F150 sales. Not saying Chevy is better I just find it weird that F150 is always touted as top seller (which is awesome and deserving) but in reality General Motors has basically two almost identical trucks with two different badges on it that are getting tallied separately. I'm sure there's a good reason for this....just pointing it out.

somewhat true, but they are named different for a reason, because they are a separate company enitity. If you sued Chevy the money comes from Chevy not GMC.

And by that thought you would have to consider the Lincoln F150 and the Mazda 1/4 ton truck

Absolutely...however The Lincoln is no where near the seller as the GMC..So I think GMC/Chevy would still have higher numbers than Ford/Lincoln in the 1/2 ton market.

And Im told that Mazda is no longer as "Ford" as it used to be.

Don't get me wrong....An F150 is an F150 and a Chevy is a Chevy while a GMC is a GMC....so the numbers, taken at face value, are what they are...I just think its a pretty fine line considering a GMC a different truck from the Chevy is all.
