Rear-end Humming

    I went to my local O'reillys today to get gear oil and RVT so i could inspect my rear end, found out that my differentials require synthetic gear oil. i have been using regular gear oil. Could that be the reason why it is humming? im assuming thats why im finding small metal shavings on the fill plug.

    no lol swap the fluid to wahts supposed to be in there. if the gears are good use em.

    Yeah i am going to swap the fluid. I was surprised that it requires synthetic fluid. The recommended Royal Purple is 75w 140 gear oil and its $20 a quart and i need 5.5 pints. Thats hurtin my wallet haha

    Yeah no ****. Its all my local Oreillys has. I think ive isolated the problem though. Im assuming its my pinion bearings that are wearing out due to lack of gear oil. so i guess i get to learn how to fix that.

    i think installing new gears is a pretty nasty install, or so ive heard.
