Installed my trans temp gauge today. Used my ole Roush pod. Glad I didn't sale it. I've had the others in for sometime but I'm glad to have it completed! The pics are from my view in the seat. Here are some readings during an extended cruise at 65mph 53 degrees outside. Boost, A/F, EGT, Trans all AutoMeter Ultra-lite series. And the last pic is just a night veiw.
thats real nice. did you do a write up on where to tap on the leads for each different gauge? i've been debating gettin a pillar pod but the wiring of them all has held me off. looks real good at night. had to double take on the Vent pod lol. almost missed it.
Wiring was quite simple but I didn't do a write up. A/F Meter Had a bung (comes with the meter) placed in the header collector (pre-cat) EGT sensor needs to be in cylinder 4 or 8. These two are the hottest. Cylinder 4 is the easiest to get to so I went there. Drilled and tapped the header not more than one inch from the head. The spacing here is critical for accurate temps. Once you get past 1 inch cooling is rapid. Infact by the time the exhuast has reached the header collector it has cooled some 300 degrees. Boost/Vac went in the manifold. Fairly straight forward. Trans temp scrrews right in with hardward included. On the driverside of the trans by the shift linkage there is a plug and under reads "line". This is a test port. Remove the plug, screw in your sensor and it's done. The wiring is not hard. AutoMeter makes it easy.
Thats awesome dude. Can you snap pics of the bungs you had to tap? I have aftermarket headers (Gibson High Flows) so I assume I can still do this, just have to drill my purty chrome.
Sure it's raining its arse off right now but i'll do it once it dries up. The temp probe and bung goes in the bottom so you will never see it from top.
Yeah I put the trans temp down there since it doesn't change much. The a/f and egt I have right in my direct line of site. If they get outta line I have about a sec to react before I pop the motor.
