It's all good, I was just in defense mode. I didn't realize after buying it how much I'd have to defend my decision. :jester: The only drawback to not having the 4.6, is the sound. That's the ONLY thing I honestly regret about not at least buying the 4.6.

I don't want to hear anyone's shat when I buy that new EcoBoost V6 :birgits_tiredcoffee :jester:

I has no love for the 4.6, I has much love for the 5.4. :peace:

When compared to the 5.4 I have no love. Ah who am I fooling? I love all Ford engines, big or small.

I find the 4.2 to be a fine engine. Besides popping the hood and being able to fit two bodies in there with the extra space. I can mess with tuners when there messing with other people. It's not to bad on gas depending on highway or not. Little slow picking up speed on the freeway but in town its good. I'm happy with it. Only question I do have is how easy could I throw the 5.4 in here. I am gonna be getting one from a friend. His truck needs a rebuild and is just gonna buy a Subaru and I'm gonna rip the engine out

you should scrap trying to toss the 5.4 in there and just run twin turbo's on the 4.2. Think about it, the EcoBoost is a twin turbo'd 3.5L. imagine what a properly fitted 4.2L will pump out. I can help w/ sizing the turbo's if you end up going that route. just my $.02 though...

I agree with Vano. There's some guys already running single turbos on 4.2's and they're making a ton of power. :peace:

can the 4.2 handle the added boost with two turbos? you may have to run some compound turbos to keep the lag to a min. but...you could put a V6 power sticker in the back window and wait till a v8 wants to race and whoop up haha

They handle the single turbos fine, I imagine with the proper bullet proofing here and there they can swing the add power of the twin turbos.

going to twin turbo's over a single doesnt always account for more power. you can get the same power out of 2 small turbos that move the same amount of air volume that one large turbo does. the reason you run twin small turbo's is to avoid the kind of lag that you might encounter when trying to spool a HUGE single turbo. so essentially you arent adding more boost, or HP, by adding a 2nd turbo, just decreasing lag time, if you properly sized your turbo in the first place.
