Ok so when I put on my fenders I had plans to cover back up the wheel wells. Which also meant I have to protect the intake hole that comes out the side. I haven't gotten to it. I've been to busy at work and haven't had time. I also plan on buying an airaid intake but I've had some other expenses come up and cannot afford it. This is where the problem comes in. Its been raining here quite a bit. And I was sucking up alot of water into the intake because its not covered and because of work I'm forced to drive on the freeway. So all the water that gets kicked up into my wheel Wells gets in the intake. I checked it and it was pretty damp everywhere. Here's my fix for about a week or two... 1. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY... Unlatched the filter latch and removed the whole setup that the air filter is in and the rubber that goes to the wheel well. 2. Cut the housing that the air filter is in just about to the lip where it gets latched leaving about a quarter of an inch or more extra. 3. Needed a support for the intake filter and MAF since the housing was gone. So I took a piece of plywood and cut it down to 8 1/2 wide by 12 1/2 long. The old housing was supported by two little like male ends that went into these metal plate holes in the engine bay. So i drilled two 3/8th holes where those were and a third hole where there was another hole that I could put a bolt through close to the fender. Painted it black. 3. Picked up some bolts that were 3/8x2 1/2 and another one that was 3/8x2 for the hole by the fender. With nuts and washers. 4. Installed the cut piece of plywood with washers and bolts. Then drilled two more smaller holes into the middle of the pltwood at the edge with the two bolts big enough to fit two zip ties into so you can hold down the intake. 5. Put the filter in the small piece that i cut out of the housing to hold it in. Then installed it and latched it. Then put the zip tied on through the little holes on the board and through the latch that holds the filter on and reconnected the battery. I've has some people say it was a dumb idea already. But its for a week or two. Better than sucking in more water. I know this is the most ghetto thing i could have done but didn't know what else to do. If people want pick of certain things I will take more. But this project seemed like an ok bandage and only cost me $4.50 for the bolts.
