Well, it has been a while since I've posted on the forums...but I'm thinking I might be picking up a 1989 Lx roller for $500 and dropping a 351w and a 5 speed in her. Here's the CL Ad: 1989 mustang rolling chassis I think I see 2 or 3 dents in the driver side fender, but a new fender is like $60 from Rockauto. I'm not even sure if I'd fix it, because I'm probably just gonna roll in some Primer Black. Do you all think that bumper is bungied up, tied up, or has a huge crack in it? Lol I've been trying to figure it out. It's only an hour away and my B-I-L would tow it home for me I think for a few bucks, he loves Foxes anyways. I asked for some more pictures but he said he was at work, so I'm expecting some by tomorrow. Just thought I'd post this up because I know how much ya'll love foxes, and you all helped start my obsession with them. This is off the top of my head: I'm planning to keep A/C and P/S, use the 87-90 Convertible 5.0 engine mounts. The car is already set up for manual, so a T-5 5 speed, 351w with custom Comp cam, heavier valve springs (Still reading up on what I want.) Not sure on heads yet, need to keep it cheap, so I might try to find some used Twisted Wedges on CL or something. I don't want crazy compression, I don't think I want to use anything more than 91 Octane. Probably delete all the emissions stuff. Apparently if I get a 5.0 harness from a 89 stang it will hook right into the body harness on this one. Going to try and avoid rebuilding the bottom end, although I found what seems to be a good rebuild kit for .030 over for $500. We'll see. I also did a quick search for 351's on CL and found a 351 with the auto out of the truck for $400, so I could sell the tranny and make some money back. I plan to put a Ford 8.8 with 3.73's after I get all the problems ironed out. Found out there are 2 dynos near me, one an hour away and the other an hour and a half away. Didn't know it until now that there is a Holley Performance Parts located in Bowling Green, about 2 minutes away from where I had been planning on going to School next year. Sorry about all the rambling, I'm just going insane trying to process all this. I already started my wishlist on summit racing. Got my LT headers, oil pan, PS/AC bracket, and x-pipe picked out.
Yup, pretty excited for it. Just gotta convince my dad to give up some of his shop space for it I think lol.
hopefully next week. he said he is still thinking about it, so who knows. im also about to buy a different house, so those could be two expensive bills ha ha
Yeah lol I hear you there man, I'm about to start college in the fall. My parents have also taken out like 4 loans in the past few months so they dont want any more bills haha. I think I will have a pretty good job this summer though. Good luck with the house man.
Holley is headquartered right there in Bowling Green along with the Corvette assembly plant. Shouldn't be any shortage of resources around Western.
