About 55ish-70 i get a shutter in the wheel or death wobble. it's not extreme but it's deffinately noticeable. I replaced both upper A arms, driver side lower balljoint(passenger was fine) and both outer tie rods. After that i got an alignment. Camber, Caster and Toe are all within spec now. After that i got my tires balanced and rotated. What else could be causing this? sway bar end links maybe? bent rim? Another thing is the guy at the alignment shop said that my rear toe was 10 degrees out of spec on the drivers side which is weird being its a straight axle. he said most likely i bent my axle which is causing it to toe out?? is that possible? or maybe the axle shaft. It's got to the point where i don't even like taking my truck on the highway because of the vibration...
You need a new balance. Anytime you have wobble that specifically start at 55 and almost vanishes at 70 it's a bad dynamic balance. What place did you go to that they said the rear was toed out?
my tires are 305/70/17(33.8") ? I got my tires balanced two weeks ago after i installed all the parts and i stood there while my buddy at discount did all 4 tires and he got them all within balance and i went to NTB and he told me the rear had toe(yeah i know NTB sucks) but i still have 2-1/2 years of free alignment there.
That's fine you watched your buddy balance them but the balance is off. You posted about this same issue months ago, and a balance resolved it. 55-70 wobble is a dynamic balance issue. Anything 305+ sometimes balances bad. It may be balanced but after you drive 300mi the balance is off. This happened often when I had my ATZ's. As for the rear axle, put a level on each side and see if there is a difference.
My rear shows as being out a little too and I can gaurantee you that I didn't bend anything. It showed up as being out with the factory wheels after I put on the levelling kit and the alignment guys told me the same thing. Either a bent wheel or a bent axle. Somebody either bent something before I took delivery or Ford sent it out the door with some jacked up parts.
yeah when i balanced it a few months ago it fixed it for about 2 months. and when i just balanced it a few weeks ago it was fixed for 2 days and it started shaking again. would it be knocked out of balance that fast? cause like i said my buddy balanced it pretty much perfect
Current balance weight size is what 1/4 1/2 1, 2, 3 ounces? Even a small amout of mud on the inside of the rim could cause an out of balance wheel/tire.
