Need help quick. What is this?!?

    Passenger side, seems to be mounted to tranny. I know it's covered in oil but what is it? It started humming quite loudly and wouldn't stop til I unhooked battery. some wires appear to be melted. and there was a little spark between them. Gotta get this fixed asap. Really need, my truck

    Well ****. truck still starts fine but then the noise starts. It literally just started doing it driving across my yard. I'm so sick of mY truck randomly doing stupid **** like this.

    yeah thats your starter. couldn't tell you why its covered in oil though

    Take it off and clean it off. Their is only 3 bolts holding her in place. Then take a light and look up and see if your rear seal is leaking.

    Theres a oil leak up above it. Been like that for a year

    Im thinking it's not the rear main just cause when you pull the plug from the bell housing theres no oil in there and the fly wheel is dry.

    The starter did start smoking. probably need a new one huh?
